INTRO

Eco Hero conservation is a marine research and conservation program based in Nusa Penida, Indonesia, that trains and educates divers in the conservation of marine megafauna. We are always looking for marine enthusiasts to join our research diver training program and research team. This Conservation Program builds on the experience and expertise of volunteers from around the world.

Coral reefs are essential to human life and marine life. They provide habitat for a wide variety of fish and other marine life, and protect coasts from abrasion and storms. However, coral reefs are currently suffering severe damage due to human activities such as irresponsible fishing, chemical use, and climate change. Therefore, conserving coral reefs is very important to maintain the survival of humans and marine life. To conserve coral reefs, it is important to keep rivers and coastlines clean of trash, prevent erosion, catch fish without damaging corals, not taking corals and reefs, involve the community in coral reef conservation efforts, improve human capacity to manage coral reef ecosystems, and rehabilitate damaged coral reefs.

We believe the true conservation lies in the ideology of letting the Nature does it work with very limited human interference. In practical, there is too much human activities that disrupt the natural flow of things such as plastic problems in the sea, overfishing, and ocean bombing. Since we are doing ocean work, it is high time to combine the ocean activities with the ecologic
education. Henceforth we offer divemaster internship with Marine ecology specialties included.

You will be part of the collecting database of the Manta rays and turtles and fishes on a daily basis, gaining knowledge about corals and being part of the coral propagation programs, completing your divemaster training with amazing marine specialties.

We organize beach cleanup and reef cleanup and awareness of action and inaction and the consequences it can produce. Helping local communities with learning English would also be great to help local children in their future.

Divemaster internship includes the training, training material, instructor, certifications for divemaster, and for the marine science specialties you choose to complete.

We provide accommodation and lunch on the day of Ocean training and research.

We are building this in collaboration with Sanctum Dive Center and Hotel. We are looking to make this as a non-profit organization. However, there is real costs from conducting ocean activities due to petrol prices rising up. Nevertheless, it is in our ideology to make sure that it is affordable and giving you the best experience and helping us make a difference in the Nusa
Penida island.

    Funding

    We are a non profit organization. As of now there is no outside funding to support our cause. Henceforth the contribution needed to sustain operation. All of the funding goes to the diving costs, boat rent, petrol fees, marine scientist fees, ocean structure, and housing. Rest assured we are open to the cost structure in all programs. We are making sure the contribution will always be affordable for everybody who want to support this noble cause to our beautiful ocean and community.

    Team

    Gilang completed his marine biology degree in 2016 and previously worked in Nusa Penida as a divemaster. He has a lot of diving experience and is very passionate about conservation. He also previously worked on an artificial coral reef project in Thousand Island, Jakarta where he monitored the artificial reef with biorock method.

    Hi my name is Audrey, i’m an 23 years old scuba instructor i started diving because I love history, nature , travelling, and adventure, I first went diving to check on underwater museums in Bali to see a World war 2 wreck in north Bali than I fell in love in the underwater life and want to explore more about the life of the underwater therefore I wanted to promote more ecological travel and tourism moreover the fun of protecting our ocean

    My name is Andriy. I have been diving since 12 years old. Scuba diving is very nice hobby where you can see the beautiful marine life and immerse in the underworld of serenity and calmness. I find it is our duty to keep the ocean clean and maintaining the balance between tourism and marine ecosystem. Eco Hero is one of the keeper in that balance. I hope you join our team soon

    People call me by my nickname: Cleo, but my real name is Afen. I fell in love with diving because of its beautiful marine diversity. This amazing underwater world makes me want to learn more about marine ecosystem and wildlife, especially turtles and manta rays
